About Our Square Dance Program

September 2023 to May 2024
Square Dance Program

Our club normally has a Plus dance every Sunday evening. At 7:00 PM, October 12, 2023, in the Mountain View Ballroom we have a free introduction to square dancing. After the free introduction, you are encouraged to join our Mainstream classes starting October 19, 2023. Once Mainstream Lessons are completed our Plus Lessons will start February 8, 2024 at 7:00PM. Our dances and lessons are normally held in our beautiful Mountain View Ballroom. (Scroll down for directions.) Following are the details for our Sunday dances and our Thursday Mainstream classes.

Sunday Dances

Time

Most every Sunday we will have a Plus dance from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. If you are not on our SaddleBrooke Squares’ group email list, you should call ahead to verify we’ll actually be dancing the evening you want to dance with us and that our venue has not changed.  Call our club president: Terry Jackson (520) 241-4164

Attire

We have no dress requirements. Dress casual or wear square dance attire, your choice.

Covid-19 Precautions (VERY IMPORTANT READ)

*In leu of the standard square dance practice of dancers forming their own squares, SaddleBrooke Squares normally (but not always) uses a computer program to assign people to squares for each tip.  We also do not ask participants if they have been vaccinated.  That means you could be dancing with both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals in your square at our dances.

*Although we do not require our participants to be vaccinated, it is the best protection you can give yourself and your fellow dancers against Covid -19. If you have opted to not to be vaccinated, we respect that decision. However, now that the vaccines are getting full FDA approval, we encourage you to reevaluate the benefits of the Covid vaccination, both for yourself and your fellow dancers.

* Both vaccinated and non-vaccinated dancers can be unknown carriers of the Covid virus, and you should be aware of this risk when making your decision to participate in any square dance.

*Needless to say, if you are not feeling well, running a fever or experiencing any mild Covid-like symptoms, you should remain at home.

*We provide hand sanitizer and request that everyone use it after every tip.

*If after dancing with us, you experience any Covid-like symptoms, please get tested for Covid- 19.  If that test shows you have contracted Covid-19, you must notify our club (any of the above officers) ASAP, as we maintain a contact list of our dancers and, if needed, we will notify everyone on that list that one of our dancers has tested positive for Covid-19.

Hold Harmless Agreement

Everyone who dances with us is required to sign a one-time “Hold Harmless Agreement” which basically says you will not to bring a lawsuit against our club, its members, callers or providers of our venue should you be injured or become ill as a result of dancing with us.

Dance Fees

Our normal dance fees are $7.00 pp for members and non member guest fees are $10.00. (Special dances may be more.)

Location of Mountainview Ballroom

The address of our MountainView Ballroom is 38759 MountainView Blvd, Tucson, AZ. When you arrive, enter where you see the large overhead canopy and turn left.  You’ll see the dance floor on your right, about 200 feet down the hall.
